2016 has been one amazing, fun filled and eventful year. A lot of major life changing things have happened to me this year so be prepared for quite a long blogpost this week… Here’s how my 2016 went…
Late in the year of 2015, I decided that within 2016 I wanted to cut my hair for charity, so in January, I ended up cutting 12 inches of my hair off and donating it to the Little Princess Trust, which felt so rewarding afterwards knowing that my hair could make all the different for a little boy, or girl. Plus, I now love my hair a lot shorter and would never have it that long again! I just find it so much easier to manage. Within the month of January, I also bought myself a new car. Poppy the Peugeot! (Yes I named my car) She’s my little pride and joy. Throughout the year, she has been a lot of help, and so handy in the summer, I felt so much like barbie cruising with the roof off, shades on and the music blasting!
Leading on to February, I went to Budapest (Hungary), which has been by far, the best city break I have ever been on. I went there due to my boyfriend booking it for a christmas present / year anniversary / Valentines. We went Valentines weekend which was sooo cute especially doing a little boat trip along the river. He’s just the cutest! I can’t believe that we are coming up to 5 years together soon! Time is flying!
March and April were extremely stressful, due to university deadlines, so there were many sleepless nights at the university library and a hell of a lot of tears, BUT I managed to survive, and I ended up finishing uni in May which made me feel a mixture of emotions – I was happy to have everything over (as in the workload), but sad and scared to move on with my life and become a proper adult, with a proper job, and a proper life. Whilst going through the last bit of uni, I did let my hair down on ONE day in April to go and see Years & Years in Wembley which was fab!
In June, I decided to get a new tattoo for the summer cos, why not? So I ended up getting one (Sorry mum, love you) Just after that, my brother and I had big birthdays coming up. He had his 18th and I had my 21st, so our parents decided to throw us a big party to celebrate which was so much fun. We had friends and family from our old schools, colleges and family who live quite far, actually make an effort to celebrate with us, which we appreciated so much. We literally celebrated the whole weekend – we had the party on the Saturday and we had a hangover barbeque the day after which was so chilled out and relaxing in the garden under a massive gazebo type thing.
Along came July…GRADUATION! It was officially final. I had no choice but to grow up from this day on. To actually graduate after 3 looooonnnngggg years felt so amazing. To see my parents’ & boyfriends face on the day was just so perfect because you realise how proud they are of you for getting through it all. Graduation day flew by though, it felt like I blinked and it was over. Either way, i’ve graduated, it’s done, never again!
Due to living away from home, my family decided to book a little getaway in August to Scotland to just spend some quality time together as a family and some time out from our normal everyday lives. Even though the weather wasn’t great, it was still a great laugh and we made some amazing memories there too.
Straight after getting back from Scotland, me and my boyfriend decided to go to Portugal for a few days in September, to spend some time with his side of the family due to them getting a new house. Again there were many memories made and brought back within a short amount of time. PLUS I caught a tan, yes I know i’m just as shocked as you are, I actually tanned! It didn’t last for very long though.
My October and November of 2016 had consisted of job hunting and also house hunting. A quick explanation for the house hunting … Me and my boyfriend have decided to move back towards Lincolnshire, which is where we both started off before I had uni and moved to London. Throughout the year, we have been saving, saving, saving to put a deposit down for a house! I’m so excited! So to get an idea of what type of house we could get, we spent most of the time within October and November viewing houses, looking online etc. Exciting things to come in 2017 hopefully!!
Finally in December, i’ve decided to hand in my notice for my job as a No7 Beauty Advisor. I’ve been working at Boots for nearly 3 and a half years now, and to develop and help my career as a Graphic Designer, I felt that it’s best to leave the company and begin with a new job, using my degree to it’s full potential.
After all of that, I think we need a nap and a pat on the back! Thankyou so much for reading this blogpost… I hope you have had an amazing 2016! Before you go, i’d like you to comment down below, What 3 things have highlighted your 2016!?
